We are beginning an exciting journey, trying to alter our whole sense of self, so that we can work in the Kingdom of the Heavens as Jesus did when he preformed his miracles. In the 1st Sunday session we embraced “rebirth” – Learning to live out of our spiritual identities, instead of just our human selves. Last Sunday, we embraced creating our world from inside out – changing ourselves in order to change our world. In particular we took on the project of erasing “complaining” from our conversations. Each day I’ll give some thoughts I have on what I’ve been going through, what some of you have shared with me about what you are encountering, or just what’s in the news & how it affects us.
TODAY: I want to point out that changing our habit of seeing the human drama and complaining about it, is HARD! Personally, the world has thrown a number of things at me that are worth complaining about. And letting them go in order to only do what is constructive requires effort and tenacity because many of these instances elicit habitual responses. My advice to you today is to “keep at it”. Life has a tendency to distract us from our spiritual goals. It keeps reminding us of how human we are. We have to keep getting back up on the spiritual horse.
Have you noticed the earthquake felt in 22 states that don’t normally have earthquakes (not to mention the Colorado one). Then there is the hurricane headed for the northeast coast (not one of its normal more southerly victims). And of course the economy has all kinds of numbers to get our attention & the stock market goes up & down. Yes, we live in exciting times. Our job is to take joy in all that the world is doing to attract our attention, but not forget our primary thrust is to remember that we are eternal, spiritual beings, “in this earth, but not of it”, going through this temporary human experience. Because it is passing, we need to cherish all the experiences this life is offering us right now. But we need to keep connected to the part of our life that is not temporary – not here today, gone tomorrow.
Good luck! Keep centered. It’s the subtle, but consistent efforts that have more effect that we realize.
God bless Rev. Robert Marshall for whatever he "gave up", "let be", "let go of", "got off of", "accepted", "got ON", "chose" &/or just plain had a “breakthrough” with to BEGIN this "THEE Spiritual Adventure" and blog.
ReplyDeleteAint it funny and oh sooo fitting that God has Rev. Bob starting with WWJD ("what would Jesus do") and "alter our whole sense of self" (total pun intended in the use of alter)...and I say God has Rev. Bob begin by "bringing us all to the alter" of self… given that… left to our own selfish devices none of us including Rev. Bob would ever BEGING let alone THERE!!!
He’s starting with being in ACTION straight from the git-go. And "so that we can work" is just perfect given if you are like me I run from that "w" word. I need to be lead to work and I am lead there always from a state of play. BUT mostly in “bondage of self”...all alone without God… is my point or so it would seem. Given my Catholic in the “deep south” upbringing what else would one expect.
Thank you Rev. Bob for leading me to WORK and be in action and beginning “in the Kingdom of the Heavens as Jesus did” again also for leading me to “his miracles”…
Beginning there all I can say is “HELL YEAH…I’ll join ya, Rev. Bob and thanks for leading in His Way…Thee Way…”Thee Spiritual Adventure”.
Peace & Love always,
Arthur
And what an honor to follow Arthur...a most enthusiastic follower of Bob Marshall!
ReplyDeleteI am very excited to discover Bob's Blog....as many more people will be able to access what I call the "best-kept secret in Orlando."
Bob's ability to communicate the teachings of Unity and other spiritual material has been monumental in the development of my psychotherapy practice...transforming and building it along more spiritual lines in an unforseen and miraculous way.
Blessings to all and thank you to Rev Bob,
Dr. Cam
